MOOD BOARD: all white everything
If you go through my wardrobe it is filled to the brim with white. White dresses, tops, skirts, shorts you name it. So it is no surprise that I am so drawn to the all white wedding vibe.
When I was about 18 and not even thinking about marriage I saw a wedding my friend had gone to where even the guests wore all white. It looked so amazing, especially seen it was a beach wedding so the white sand contrasting with the blue ocean made for the most spectacular photos. They got married in Mexico (I am talking like I was actually a guest - I wasn't) and there were photos of all the guests walking along the sand to the ceremony space that had an arbour full of white orchids. 10 years ago it was not really a very popular trend, I loved weddings but hadn't come across an all white wedding before. Once I saw this Mexico destination wedding, I was sold on it.
The trend has definitely continued and I think it will be sticking around for a while. Although it does look so good as a beach wedding, the white wedding theme can be transformed to every style of wedding. Think a boho wedding with a long flowing wedding dress, bridesmaids in white lace and the tables adorned with beautiful soft linens. Or even a luxury high end traditional wedding - a form fitting sleek wedding dress with bridesmaids in silk dresses, orchids, hydrangea and crisp white linen on the tables.
The possibilities are endless and the most important part is to add your own twist. Whether that be some incredible statement jewellery, pops of bright colours in the bouquet or soft blue and pink linen on the table with hints of gold. You can't go wrong!
I have created a few of my favourite white wedding looks, from dresses for the bride and the bridesmaids, suits, table setting and even cocktails. I hope you find some inspiration for your own white wedding.
Wedding Dress Designers:
Some of my favourite wedding dress designers at the moments are - Grace Loves Lace for the boho beach bride. Rue De Seine are absolutely stunning! I am picturing a Farm style wedding, super romantic and sexy. Anna Campbell Bridal is all about the detail and are so versatile. You can find the perfect dress for any wedding, from formal to beach and everything in between.
I am loving the white lace look at the moment. Lover the Label has stunning dresses for bridesmaids. I love that you can get the same material in different styles so all your brides look the same but are wearing cuts they feel comfortable in. Thurley has some amazing dresses at the moment. I love their thick white lace styles that are universally flattering on a woman's body.
P. Johnson have beautifully tailored suits and you can pick from a range of whites. From creams, to pure whites and off whites - there is definitely something for every groom and his groomsmen.
My Favourite white accessory for a wedding, the flowers! Soft white peonies, hydrangea and or course orchid's make such a statement. Mix them with some bright pops of greenery and some softer pastel colours to make for a romantic feel to your bouquet, arbour or table setting.
You do not need to stick to pure whites here. Play with different tones of white in beautiful linens. Even blush tones can blend in perfectly or really soft blues will elevate your all white wedding without taking over from the theme. Step up the look with gold cutlery or gold charger plates. For name settings play with textures - marble, gems and stones or shells for a beach wedding. For the ultimate Inspo (and where I find so much wedding inspiration) look no further than The Lane, the absolute ultimate style guide and directory for all things weddings.
Cocktails and Food:
You cannot go past a simple margarita with a heavy salt rimmed glass to add to that white crispness. Or mix it up by serving guests coconut margaritas and instead of the salt have a thick rim of desiccated coconut. A white cosmopolitan is a new twist to keep with the white theme. With vodka, elderflower liqueur, white cranberry juice and lemon juice it is the perfect girly cocktail for your wedding day. YUM!
For food anything goes really because as much as you want it to look good, tasting good is the most important thing. However, to stick with the white theme think a Fresh Oyster Bar with big chucks of rock salt and ice. Keep your wedding cake all white with fresh white flowers to decorate. Perfection!
